Complete turn-key RPi Smart Still controller systems are now available by special order. These systems can vary from the controller-only, all the way up to the controller + LIDAR Hydrometer Reader + Boilermaker + 10″ Android tablet + dedicated WiFi router, all pre-configured and ready to plug in. Complete systems sold with the tablet and router include a free year of live remote support which will also be available for purchase for all other controller-only units sold.
Controllers are available with 1/4″ or 1/2″ cooling valves and in black or white cases. Complete turn-key systems may be purchased with or without a Boilermaker for those using gas-fired boilers, those who already own a Boilermaker, or those who intend to use an existing SCR controller. Stepper motors and couplers for gas valves or SCR controllers can be added by request. The onboard relays will also be wired as requested at order time to output 12 or 5 volts DC.
The Banana Pi M4 Zero is the standard computer used in all controllers due to the fact that they have built-in EMMC storage that is faster than an SD card and won’t wear out in a couple years. These use a much more powerful CPU and come with more RAM, but are actually less expensive than any Raspberry Pi. If you are ordering a controller-only, it will be pre-configured to connect to you home WiFi network or you may request the M4 Berry upgrade that provides ethernet connectivity as well as a 1/8″ stereo audio jack for a locally connected speaker to play voice prompts.
All controllers and complete turn-key systems are shipped with Adafruit professional grade DS18B20 temperature sensors, ball-bearing cooling fans, 12 volt 8 amp power supplies, and cases 3D printed in PETG for added durability and heat resistance. There are no bargain basement parts used and no shortcuts taken. All units are custom-built to order, assembly & testing requires 1 to 2 weeks if all necessary parts are already on-hand.
